I met Miah and the team at Schulte Wellness in October of 2023 thru my wife. I have struggled with my weight and health for the better part of the last 20 years.
Additionally, I’ve suffered from severe anxiety and panic attacks during that same time much of which was attributed to the loss of my mother when she was 58 years old to a stroke.
I was not in a healthy place mentally or physically. I was taking medication for anxiety, blood pressure, cholesterol, and acid reflux and weighed nearly 300 pounds. A year or more before I met Miah, I sat in a doctor’s office seriously contemplating weight loss surgery because I didn’t believe I was capable any longer of correcting this myself. I was approved for surgery, but something didn’t feel right about it and thankfully I decided against it.
When I first met Miah and we started to plan how to eat I told her this would be no easy task. I think my largest goal was to put myself in a place I would not die young like my mom and that I would be around to see my 11- and 7-year old’s grow and have families of their own. I had very bad habits when it came to food. I was a stress eater and didn’t ever eat 3 meals a day. To complicate things my wife would tell you I am a “picky” eater. I ate zero vegetables, nor would I try anything new whatsoever.
Miah stuck with me giving me options and teaching me how to find food that was good for me that I could still eat. We worked to find things to curb cravings and how to work in something sweet every now and then also. With her encouragement and the support of my wife we tried new meals and slowly made some progress on things I would have never eaten before in my life. It’s with out a doubt a journey I am on that has good weeks and bad weeks, but I’ve learned that I am indeed capable of losing weight on my own simply by eating a balanced diet.

I’m a little over half the way to my final goal of weight loss but the results have been nothing short of amazing. I am proud to say I have lost nearly 54 pounds since October, and I feel better than I have in twenty years. I have been able to stop taking medications I’ve been on for 15 years and my anxiety is better than it’s ever been with medication.
