Membership Medicine

Membership medicine (sometimes referred to as “Direct Care”) is an exciting and rapidly growing model to provide medical care without the costly interference of health insurance companies. Instead, our patients pay us directly through a convenient and affordable flat monthly fee*.

This allows me to keep my practice small and provide you with highly accessible, personalized, and preventive care when you need it. It’s like having your doctor available at the touch of a button. Our focus on ensuring a strong and satisfying doctor-patient relationship is the key to helping you stay healthy.

In fact, it’s the way I’ve always wanted and expected to practice medicine!

You will experience the difference immediately when you visit us at Schulte Wellness. Our entire wellness center has been designed to create a relaxing and comfortable experience for you, from our reception area to the exam rooms, and from our Teaching Kitchen to the gym. There is little, if any, waiting time. We will take the time to address your health concerns and questions, and your office visits will never feel rushed.

Our focus will be on a gynecologic women’s health and lifestyle medicine approach, designed to translate into better health and vitality for you!

Because my practice is limited to just a few hundred, not thousands, of patients, I really get to know my patients so I can take a more proactive role in your health and wellness and be there when you need me.

My goal is to provide you with an experience that will not just meet, but exceed, your expectations for a doctor’s office.

Appointments, Referrals and Care

My comprehensive training in Ob/Gyn and my Lifestyle Medicine focus allows me to handle most of your healthcare needs. Although your membership fee will cover most of your medical care needs*, some of you may choose to keep your primary care provider.

If you need to see a specialist, I will help you find the right doctor and coordinate your care. When making referrals, I can consult with your specialist prior to your appointment, as needed.

After your specialist visit, I will follow up to discuss any of your questions or concerns, and arrange additional testing and management if needed.

This can be a stressful and often confusing experience for patients and their families.

You will be cared for by a hospitalist team. I will communicate with them, review your plan of care, answer questions, and make recommendations as needed. As your health care advocate, I will communicate directly with you and your loved ones, and help you navigate the health care system.

Hormone Optimization and Bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy

For many patients, yes. Balancing hormone levels can improve vaginal dryness and low libido in women and sexual function in men. If Sexual Dysfunction Treatment is your main concern, we will talk through your history and labs to see whether pellet therapy is the right fit before we start.

It could be. Testosterone naturally declines with age in both men and women, and Low Testosterone Treatment can address symptoms like fatigue, loss of muscle and bone mass, low libido, and mood changes. A simple lab panel will tell us where you stand.

Yes. Menopause Treatment is one of the most common reasons women come to us for pellet therapy. Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, sleep trouble, brain fog, and mid-section weight gain are all things we regularly help patients manage with bioidentical hormones.

Pellets are compounded from organic plant materials and are molecularly identical to the hormones your body already produces. Unlike pills or creams, a pellet is inserted in a quick in-office procedure and releases a steady dose of hormone directly into your bloodstream for 3 to 5 months, so you are not remembering a daily dose or dealing with the liver side effects that come with oral hormone replacement.

Hormone Optimization is the process of identifying and correcting hormone imbalances that affect your energy, weight, mood, sleep, and sexual health. If you are experiencing fatigue, brain fog, low libido, weight gain, or mood changes, we will start with a lab panel to see where your levels stand and build a plan from there.

DEXA (DXA) is a low-radiation scan that measures your body composition including the exact percentage of fat, lean muscle, and bone, along with your bone density. Schulte Wellness is the only Ohio location offering DexaFit AI, which pairs your scan with your lifestyle data to give you a personalized longevity plan, not just a printout.

We start by listening, beginning with a real conversation about your energy, sleep, digestion, stress, and hormones. From there we look for patterns including inflammation, hormone shifts, digestive issues, and energy crashes, and build a foundation around nutrition, sleep, hydration, and targeted supplementation, with the plan evolving as your body responds.

Lifestyle Medicine treats the root causes of chronic illness including nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and hormones, rather than just prescribing a pill for each symptom. As a Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner, Dr. Val Schulte looks at how all of these systems connect in your body so we can build a plan tailored to you, not a generic protocol.
